Going solo with AI deletes your last independent check.

Bloomberg ran a how-to on October 25 for running an AI-powered one-person business, and the setup is genuinely easy: you can stand up the tools in an afternoon. The setup was never the hard part.
AI does your coworkers' labor: draft, code, schedule, reconcile. What it can't do is their dissent. A colleague has a separate stake and will tell you you're wrong. A model is trained to be agreeable and hands your own framing back to you. Tell it to "play devil's advocate" and it argues inside the frame you gave it. It catches typos, not blind spots.
So going solo doesn't just cut payroll. It removes the one person who was structurally motivated to contradict you, and your mistakes stop getting caught. The company scales exactly as far as your own blind spots allow, and no further. The faster the tools ship, the faster an unseen error compounds.
Before you scale alone, buy back one check you can't overrule: a paid reviewer, a peer, a customer who will tell you the truth. An agreeable model is not a second opinion.
This breaks if solo operators using only AI self-critique catch hard, unknown-unknown errors as often as those with an independent human reviewer.
