# Shiba Inu's drop today was self-inflicted: the leveraged bulls liquidated themselves.

**In one line:** SHIB's drop was leveraged longs liquidating themselves — priced by leverage, not value.

![A bright, sunlit concept scene under a clean turquoise sky. A long diagonal chain of small faceless figures, seen from behind, lean backward and strain to haul a huge glossy upward-pointing arrow into the air with taut cables tied around their waists. In the lower centre one amber cable has just snapped, and the chain of figures is being yanked forward and tumbling down a bright ramp while the giant arrow tips over and plunges after them, so the figures lifting it are the ones falling with it. The left side of the frame is open bright sky. Headline in English, "Leverage lifts the price, then liquidates you", with a Chinese line below it, "杠杆把价格抬上去，再把你清算掉".](https://wakenex.com/assets/notes/shiba-inus-drop-today-wasnt-driven-by-bears-it-was/cover-1600.jpg?v=cde440f075)

On Oct 30, about $20 million of SHIB positions were liquidated within 24 hours — longs absorbed roughly $12.9 million, shorts about $7 million — and even now long positions still outnumber shorts by about 2.71 to 1. The price didn't fall on "bad news." A crowd that borrowed money to go long hit maintenance margin on one small dip, got force-closed at market, and was made to sell; those sells pushed the price lower, triggered the next wave of liquidations, and it cascaded.

Strip it down. SHIB has no cash flow and no fundamental to anchor to, so its short-term price is set almost entirely by leveraged positioning and funding rates. The SHIB team itself admits it: borrowed money magnifies short-term moves, and small changes can trigger large liquidations. Worse, longs still lead about 2.71 to 1 and roughly 92.07 billion SHIB flowed net into exchanges over 24 hours — the fuel for the next drop (longs that can be liquidated) isn't shrinking, it's growing. A "take care" warning doesn't change that structure.

Who this matters to: anyone buying a token with no cash flow that is priced by leverage. Separate "owning an asset" from "placing a bet with a margin clock." If your position only holds while you avoid liquidation, you don't own a coin; you hold a leveraged bet that can be called at any time. What would change this: if SHIB's price starts to decouple from funding and open interest and is driven by real spot demand instead. Research, not investment advice.
