# Plug into the AI advisor interface and you rent out your counter.
You're feeding the model the data that trains your replacement.

**In one line:** Plug in and you rent out your counter, training your replacement.

![A bright, sunlit minimal plaza of pale stone under an open blue sky. A long orderly line of small identical businesspeople, seen from behind, each push a wheelbarrow of softly glowing paper files and eagerly tip them into one enormous polished chrome intake slot in the front of a tall white service counter. On the far side, a conveyor carries those same files into a stamping press that is building a second, identical counter out of them, so the counter clones itself from whatever the crowd feeds in. The heaped files and the duplicate counter glow a bold warm magenta; the crowd keeps feeding, unaware. The left of the frame is empty sky.](https://wakenex.com/assets/notes/plugging-into-the-ai-advisor-interface-rents-out/cover-1600.jpg?v=65f2272456)

The mechanism is simple. Anthropic's Claude for Financial Advisors launched September 14 as an interface: an advisor types a command inside Claude and it pulls data from every tool they use. On October 27, Invesco, FINNY and CAIS plugged in, joining BlackRock, Vanguard, Addepar and Schwab's custodial feed. Each connector hands the model two things, the client data and the usage patterns. That is the exact material you'd need to build the product that makes the connector redundant. Some providers are hesitating for precisely this reason, per Kitces.

The price is the tell: about $400 a month plus $70 to $120 per user. You pay to move your advisors' daily work inside someone else's box, and to teach that box what your people do.

Strongest case against me: the incumbents keep what matters. Custody, the funds, the fiduciary sign-off, the human review each connector still requires. Fidelity, Pershing and Altruist haven't joined. Maybe this stays a thin convenience layer.

It stops being thin the moment switching costs rise, and they rise every time you train staff to live in it and route more data through it. Withhold the data that can't be rebuilt; keep the client relationship off the platform. What would change my mind: connectors that survive being pointed at a rival model. If they're portable, you're only renting the interface and can walk.

Research, not investment advice.
