# Mochatrade sells Indian retail leveraged price exposure to US stocks.

**In one line:** Mochatrade sells leveraged price exposure, not US stock ownership.

**WAKENEX concept:** [From possibility to trade-off](https://wakenex.com/concepts/from-possibility-to-trade-off/)

![A bright sunlit scene under a clear cyan sky. On the right, behind a thick plate-glass window, a solid gold object shaped like a tiny engraved skyscraper sits locked on a stone pedestal, out of reach. In front of the glass a single anonymous hand clutches a glowing translucent ribbon of light shaped like a jagged market price line; a taut, over-stretched elastic cord ties that ribbon to a round pressure gauge whose needle is buried in the red. Thin coins drift away out of the frame. The left half is open bright sky.](https://wakenex.com/assets/notes/mochatrade-sells-indian-retail-leveraged-price-exposure/cover-1600.jpg?v=f53a1c2e8a)

On October 26 the Y Combinator-backed startup raised $5.56 million, with CoinFund, Coinbase Ventures and Pioneer Fund, to let users go long or short on names like Nvidia, Tesla or Apple, funding and withdrawing in rupees through UPI. It is pitched as access: the US market, finally, from your phone.

Read what you would actually hold. Not a share. A perpetual future that tracks the price, a crypto-native instrument with built-in leverage and a funding rate you pay to keep the position open. You get no dividend and no shareholder vote. And the regime behind it is an FIU-IND registration, which is anti-money-laundering paperwork, not investor protection.

So the part that got cheaper is leverage. The part still out of reach is ownership. Access to the price is one thing; access to the asset is another. When the position moves against you, a liquidation engine closes it and the loss is yours, while the funding and fees you pay flow to the platform and the crypto funds behind it.

Before you fund an account, settle one question: can you take delivery of the share, or only rent exposure to its price on borrowed terms? If it is the second, you are a counterparty, not an owner.

What would change my read: Mochatrade showing most volume runs without leverage and with no liquidations, or operating under a real investor-protection regime instead of an AML registration.

Research, not investment advice.
